Here are 9 transformative mindset shifts that can transform your life instantly.

1. Don’t overvalue those ahead of you.

Avoid placing others on pedestals. Authority figures are human, just like us. Use judgment critically and don't follow blindly.

The best guidance often comes from those slightly ahead, offering relatable and achievable goals.

2. Respect those who know “less”.

Fresh eyes in any field can be a source of groundbreaking ideas. Emphasize the importance of listening to those with 'little experience' or new to a field, as their insights are not yet muddled by “what everyone else knows” to be true.

3. Forget the herd. Societal norms were created a long time ago, and many don’t apply today.

Question the 'standard' paths laid out by society. Instead think about the unique impact you can make. The “graduate, get married, climb the corporate ladders, retire 40 years later” are long gone.

It's about carving your own path and not just following the road laid out for you.

4. Don’t follow your dreams at all cost.

Financial stability is crucial, and provides a cushion and security to chase your dream. Create a financial base before venturing into riskier pursuits.

You’ll be less desperate when selling to clients, and have transferable skills that will benefit you greatly as an entrepreneur.

(Unless you’re young, and have no responsibilities. This is the time you can take bigger risks and go all in.)

5. Keep scores according to your rules.

Success is subjective. Some see success as financial wealth, others are about academic achievements, or entrepreneurial ventures. You can create your success metrics to what matters to you and makes you fulfilled.

6. Addictions are killers of joy and success.

Be vigilant about small, potentially harmful habits. High performing people are prone to compulsive behaviors. Innocent habits can turn into full blown addictions if left unchecked.

The dictionary defines compulsive actions as: having a very strong desire to do something repeatedly, even against one’s own will.

Many successful entrepreneurs overcome addictions, including Oprah Winfrey and Sam Polk.

7. Chasing happiness will not make you happy.

Life isn't meant to be constant bliss but includes embracing life's challenges and struggles. It's about finding joy and learning in all experiences.
